Good news for Indian women.  Women suffering for uterine fibroids shouldn't have to go through painful surgery any more.  "The fibroids can be treated through a painless and bloodless procedure introduced in India for the first time in Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital", this is according to an article published in IANS.

ExAblte for the treatment of uterine fibroids is being introduced in India as an appropriate alternative to hysterectomy by allowing quick recovery, women can return to their normal life much faster than if they had to go through a hysterectomy.  Dr. Srinivas Desai, the treating physician at Jaslok Hospital adds that unlike hysterectomy, "since the uterus is unharmed, the fertility of the woman remains intact".

The ExAblate treatment is completely non-invasive, meaning, the fibroids are removed without cutting the body open.  This method prevents complications associated with invasive surgery where the body is being cut and allows patients return to their daily life within 1-2 days.

This article also states that this treatment not only eases the pain of patients but also reduces the cost of the treatment by 50 percent.
